After talking with Lynn I am starting over with much lower criteria. Since I am in no hurry and it is the 'backbone' of the behavior, I will take my time.
I am sitting on the couch, NO treats in scent pot, just waiting for a touch.

Set 1:
Easily got nose touches. I have lowered my criteria where I am holding the pot on my lap at his nose level. I started clicking at the touch not asking for any duration.
Set 2:
He started giving me more duration and any time I would get any kind of nose push (which he likes to do since I strengthened up his target), I would go back down. Still just holding it at his nose level.
I will stay at this step for a while...
